Prayer to Saint Jude, Patron of Lost Causes

O most holy apostle, Saint Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honoureth and invoketh thee universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, and of things almost despaired of.
Pray for me, who am so miserable. Make use, I implore thee, of that particular privilege accorded to thee, to bring visible and speedy help where help was almost despaired of.
Come to mine assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolation and succor of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly (here make your request) and that I may praise God with thee and all the elect throughout eternity.
I promise thee, O blessed Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favour, to always honour thee as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to thee.
Amen.

Calling All Prayer Warriors

I recently found out that a former neighbor of ours was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer approximately 6 weeks ago. Two days prior to starting chemo/ radiation he had emergency surgery for a perforated bowel. He has spent five of the last 6 weeks in the hospital/ in patient rehab. On Monday, Steve is scheduled to come home. The house and medical equipment are ready to go and his wife Nancy has quit her job as Director at St Marks as he will need 24 hour care. He is not strong enough to begin treatment and we ask for your prayers for strength! Steve and Nancy have three daughters, Meghan, Lauren and Madilyn.

Please join me in praying for this family, for all of their various needs during this trying time.  Lord hear our prayers!

Almighty God, Your ways are not our ways nor are Your thoughts our thoughts.  Give our dear friend, Steve, patience in his suffering and endurance in these difficult days.  Guide the doctors and nurses and all those who care for him by Your Spirit, that their decisions would be made in wisdom.  Surround Steve with Your comfort and the peace that passes all understanding.  Keep this loved one in faith in Christ Jesus.  Amen.

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called "The Mighty", "The Wonder Worker" because
of the numerous miracles which you obtained from God for those who have turned to you in
their need. For so many years, you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys
the very fiber of our being.

You turned to God when the power of human beings could do no more, and you were favored
with the vision of Jesus coming down from His cross to heal your affliction. I now ask God to
heal the sick person whom I entrust to you:

Steve E.
Aided by your powerful intercession, I shall sing with Mary a hymn of gratitude
to God for His great goodness and mercy. Amen.

Jesus I trust in YOU!

A Prayer for Our Country

O Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, at this most critical time, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care.

Most Holy Mother, we beg you to reclaim this land for the glory of your Son. Overwhelmed with the burden of the sins of our nation, we cry to you from the depths of our hearts and seek refuge in your motherly protection.

Look down with mercy upon us and touch the hearts of our people.  Open our minds to the great worth of human life and to the responsibilities that accompany human freedom.

Free us from the falsehoods that lead to the evil of abortion and threaten the sanctity of family life.  Grant our country the wisdom to proclaim that God's law is the foundation on which this nation was founded, and that He alone is the True Source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

O Merciful Mother, give us the courage to reject the culture of death and the strength to build a new Culture of Life.   Amen.

This prayer card stays on my desk at all times, and I try to pray it often.  Please consider praying with me.

It was obtained from Men of the Sacred Hearts

Happy Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi

The Peace Prayer of St. Francis

by an anonymous Norman c. 1915 A.D. Peace Prayer

Lord make me an instrument of your peace

Where there is hatred,
Let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, truth;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, Joy.

O Divine Master grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled
As to console;
To be understood,as to understand;
To be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
